Boudoir Session 2 by Gretchen Kelly

These are from my most recent Boudoir Session on Saturday. I have no shortage of friends who want to pose and take away a painting for themselves. It's been a cozy intimate way to catch up with one another and have tea and some homemade sweets in the late afternoon on a winter's day.

Boudoir Session by Gretchen Kelly

I'm painting my friends in vintage lingerie and personal collections for these intimate poses. This kind of genre is perfect for Valentines Day gifts and bridal gifts for the betrothed, or even brides maidens….consider it for the next time you want to give something intimate and unique. Email me to find out details of the session.

Frosty scenes from the Hudson River by Gretchen Kelly

From the train window on Wednesday, I clicked winter wonderland scenes and arranged them on my FB page in small groupings that show a point of view. In a group a series of blurry trees, a series of little frosted boat house miniatures, an arrangement of arctic isles floating on the ice are enchanting.

Quartet of Winter Scenes on Church Road by Gretchen Kelly

This is a special spot on the map on the outskirts of Hudson, NY. In the beginning of the summer there's a triangular patch of white daisies that the horses graze in and I've painted that.....I'll post it later.... In the winter there are many good views that an Artist can capture on a page. Cropped close up or from a distance, with or without the curved road, off to either side of the barns and even without the barns. A few years ago I painted it with blue and with skies and they sold out like hot cakes.

Hybrid digital sketches of Nudes with Patterns by Gretchen Kelly

I am introducing a beta version of some hybrid nudes: digitally altered sketches of my nudes combined with graphic patterns that I have designed. This beta version is a digital print on 8.5"x11" watercolor paper. I am test marketing these on my Etsy shop and trying to lure customers to collecting this new genre with a gift with purchase offer. If you purchase 2 or more items on my shop at regular price I will include this gift with the purchase. I want to be able to sell prints of my work and I think this is a great way to present two things that I love creating- figurative sketches and textile patterns.
Stay tuned tomorrow for the listings on my Etsy shop.

Riding the Train homeward….. photos by Gretchen Kelly

Here is something I have been doing for a couple of years while traveling back and forth to NYC from Hudson. I spend my two hours on the train shooting what I see out the window and altering with iPhone apps. I group in series. The process of doing this has altered my vision and perceptions in my Art process…..very interesting indeed. You can follow me each week on FB while I ride the train.
