Water Goddess of the Hudson River - original watercolor by Gretchen Kelly

12" x 16" watercolor + graphite on paper
The Rip Van Winkle bridge is in the background. The water which is all around me is taking center stage in my figurative works lately. Since the rainy season has let up and the heat wave has taken up, I can't get enough of the water. I want to dip into it, I want to paint it, I want to observe it. It makes a strong statement with the figurative works. It is filling me with awe and wonder as I record the movement, the colors + reflections and find new spots to dip into.
