Nude #597- original nude by Gretchen Kelly

7" x 10" - fresco w/watercolor, gouache, graphite on paper coated with encaustic.
I sketched a one minute pose in graphite on the plaster surface and then went into it with the colors. This fresco is coated with encaustic to preserve the medium. The colors have become more saturated in the process and the look appears ancient.

These last three have a richness and depth to them which is really enjoyable. In terms of the plaster and its fragility, how do you think they would travel Gretchen?

Thanks Sheila,
I have been trying several variations in the prep process of the plaster. It is fragile but stable enough to frame behind glass. I have coated the last two with encuastic which is an ancient preservative of bees wax and other ingredients and those are very durable. I am still working on a technique to stablize the fresco without the encaustic...there are some formulas that are more stable than others.
