Nude #271- 12"x12" gelatin print on rice paper
This is a new technique for me. It is a very simple printing process using gelatin as a plate to print off from. It is gelatin -just like jello- but a double dose to make it firmer. The plate is created on a glass pane by surrounding it with a mote of clay to hold in the gelatin as it sets. I used water based inks and created background motifs using ferns and grasses as resist shapes. I painted the odelisque. Each print is a one-off, but you can continue onto shadow prints and add in, thereby creating a series that changes but maintains characteristics of the previous print.
