Golden grass in snowfield - 6"x24" watercolor & gold leaf on paper

What satisfaction I get when adding the metallic leaf to render the golden grass rising above this snowfield. It may look like water in the foreground but it's not. It is the beautiful shadow cast on snow as the sun descends in the winter.

I wanted to let you know that I LOVE your inclusion of silver and gold leaf in your works. Do you put the leaf down over the entire surface and then a watercolor medium over it where you intend to use watercolors? It's really fascinating. I have a medium from Golden that's supposed to go onto any surface to make it watercolor ready. I got it for future mixed media pieces, but have yet to try it. Oh, and I absolutely suck at gold leaf. terrible. awful. But, someday I will prevail.

Great work!
