Hidden Lightfield - 6"x24" watercolor & graphite on paper

This is another in my winter landscape series which focuses on the golden band of light that is a field illuminated by the sun hidden behind the line of trees.

Golden grass in snowfield - 6"x24" watercolor & gold leaf on paper

What satisfaction I get when adding the metallic leaf to render the golden grass rising above this snowfield. It may look like water in the foreground but it's not. It is the beautiful shadow cast on snow as the sun descends in the winter.

Snow Surface - 6"x24" watercolor & wax on paper

This snowscape offers me the opportunity to play with color and texture. The snow is perfect to render like sugar white frosting with encaustic wax and t0 play with its resist nature in contrast to the watercolors.

Silver Snowscape - 10"x10" oil & silver leaf on wood

After covering the wood entirely with silver leaf I painted this snowy landscape which mirrors what is all around me in the Hudson Valley. It is a beautiful white sea of reflections and brilliance.

Stargazer Lily still life - 18"x24" oil, graphite, silverleaf & plaster on canvas

owned by my mother
I am cleaning house by rescuing some unfinished work and trying some new techniques. Otherwise I just need to get rid of old work or paint over it. So here again the silver leaf makes its way into the painting.

Golden Sunfowers - 14"x23.5" oil, crayon & gold leaf on wood

I added the gold leaf to an unfinished painting I had laying around and what a difference it made. It really adds life. This painting could literally brighten your day....

Nude #151 - 18"x24" graphite & silver leaf on paper

This looks much better in this photo than it does in real life because the silver leaf is doing what I really want it to - highlighting to the brightest possible point that it can go due to the flash of the camera. In person the silver leaf looks dark not light. So it does not work. I must stare at it on my wall to figure out how I can rescue this...

Nude #150 - 9"x14" - gouache, graphite & gold leaf on paper

This nude has the duality of a glitzy Vegas girl and a Tahitian woman in a Gauguin scene. Don't get me wrong I am not thinking I paint like the great Gauguin. But I do admire his work.

Golden grass - 8"x10" watercolor, graphite, oil, gold leaf on board

This is another fantasy landscape where I fooling around with color combos. I actually was inspired by a pale pink sky that I saw just before dusk one day last week.
